20 division facts to 10 × 10 problems with an answer key. Print with your browser; the answers print on a separate page.
How to use this worksheet
Print it, set a time limit if you like, and mark it with the key. Press “New worksheet” for a fresh set of numbers at the same level: every set is different, so it works for repeated practice and for a whole class.
Worked example: 16 ÷ 8
Here is the method for the first problem on this sheet, step by step. The same steps work for every problem at this level.
- Ask how many times 8 fits into 16: 8 × 2 = 16.
- Nothing is left over, so 16 ÷ 8 = 2.
- Check by multiplying back: 2 × 8 = 16.
What this level practises
Division facts to 10 × 10 is usually taught in grade 3. This sheet has 20 problems; the answers run from 1 to 9, and the problem with the largest answer is 72 ÷ 8 = 9. Work through the sheet without a calculator, then mark it with the key: the aim is accuracy first and speed second.
Tips for division
- Division undoes multiplication: to work out 56 ÷ 7, ask which number times 7 makes 56.
- A remainder is what is left when the divisor no longer fits. It must always be smaller than the divisor.
- Check by multiplying the answer by the divisor and adding the remainder; you should get the starting number.
- Secure times tables first: almost every division mistake comes from a multiplication fact that is not yet known.
Printing
Use your browser’s print command. The menus, buttons and ads are left off the printout, and the answer key starts on a new page so it can be kept back. For a whole class, print one sheet, press “New worksheet” and print again to give each group different numbers.
