How to work it out
- Turn the percentage into a decimal: 26 ÷ 100 = 0.26
- Multiply: 0.26 × 27 = 7.02
- Check: Work backwards: 7.02 ÷ 27 × 100 = 26%.
Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 26/100 = part/27, so part = 26 × 27 ÷ 100 = 7.02. Both methods always give the same answer.
