How to work it out

  1. Turn the percentage into a decimal: 38 ÷ 100 = 0.38
  2. Multiply: 0.38 × 2 = 0.76
  3. Check: Work backwards: 0.76 ÷ 2 × 100 = 38%.

Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 38/100 = part/2, so part = 38 × 2 ÷ 100 = 0.76. Both methods always give the same answer.
