How to work it out
- Turn the percentage into a decimal: 37 ÷ 100 = 0.37
- Multiply: 0.37 × 30 = 11.1
- Check: Work backwards: 11.1 ÷ 30 × 100 = 37%.
Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 37/100 = part/30, so part = 37 × 30 ÷ 100 = 11.1. Both methods always give the same answer.
