How to work it out
- Turn the percentage into a decimal: 26 ÷ 100 = 0.26
- Multiply: 0.26 × 7 = 1.82
- Check: Work backwards: 1.82 ÷ 7 × 100 = 26%.
Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 26/100 = part/7, so part = 26 × 7 ÷ 100 = 1.82. Both methods always give the same answer.
