How to work it out
- Turn the percentage into a decimal: 9 ÷ 100 = 0.09
- Multiply: 0.09 × 24 = 2.16
- Check: Work backwards: 2.16 ÷ 24 × 100 = 9%.
Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 9/100 = part/24, so part = 9 × 24 ÷ 100 = 2.16. Both methods always give the same answer.
