How to work it out
- Turn the percentage into a decimal: 600 ÷ 100 = 6
- Multiply: 6 × 10 = 60
- Check: Work backwards: 60 ÷ 10 × 100 = 600%.
Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 600/100 = part/10, so part = 600 × 10 ÷ 100 = 60. Both methods always give the same answer.
