How to work it out
- Turn the percentage into a decimal: 66 ÷ 100 = 0.66
- Multiply: 0.66 × 10 = 6.6
- Check: Work backwards: 6.6 ÷ 10 × 100 = 66%.
Another method. As a proportion of part to whole: 66/100 = part/10, so part = 66 × 10 ÷ 100 = 6.6. Both methods always give the same answer.
