Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0.
- The digits of every answer add up to a multiple of 9.
- Split it into tens and ones: 333 × k = 330 × k + 3 × k.
- Each answer is 333 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 333.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 333 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 333 away: 3,330 − 333 = 2,997. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 333: 3,330 + 333 = 3,663. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 333 → 666 → 1,332.
Every multiple of 333 is at least 333, so there are none below 100 and 3 below 1,000. A number is in the 333 times table exactly when it divides by 333 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 333 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 333 × 1 = 333 is odd, 333 × 2 = 666 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 333 × 10 = 3,330, and 333 × 100 = 33,300. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 3,330 is 1,665.
Using the 333 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 333 × 7 = 2,331, you know 2,331 ÷ 333 = 7 and 2,331 ÷ 7 = 333. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 333 pencils. How many pencils are in 8 boxes?
Answer
8 × 333 = 2,664 pencils. - Tickets cost $333 each. How much do 11 tickets cost?
Answer
11 × $333 = $3,663. - 2,664 chairs are set out in rows of 333. How many rows are there?
Answer
2,664 ÷ 333 = 8 rows. - A plant grows 333 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 6 weeks?
Answer
6 × 333 = 1,998 millimetres.
Questions
What is 333 × 12?
3,996.
What is half of 333 × 8?
333 × 8 = 2,664, and half of that is 1,332, which is 333 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 333 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 333 contain nothing.
What is 333 × 7 and 333 × 8?
333 × 7 = 2,331 and 333 × 8 = 2,664. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 4,995 in the 333 times table?
Yes: 4,995 ÷ 333 = 15 with no remainder. 4,996 is not, because dividing it by 333 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 333 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
