Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0.
- Split it into tens and ones: 411 × k = 410 × k + 1 × k.
- Each answer is 411 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 411.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 411 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 411 away: 4,110 − 411 = 3,699. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 411: 4,110 + 411 = 4,521. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 411 → 822 → 1,644.
Every multiple of 411 is at least 411, so there are none below 100 and 2 below 1,000. A number is in the 411 times table exactly when it divides by 411 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 411 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 411 × 1 = 411 is odd, 411 × 2 = 822 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 411 × 10 = 4,110, and 411 × 100 = 41,100. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 4,110 is 2,055.
Using the 411 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 411 × 7 = 2,877, you know 2,877 ÷ 411 = 7 and 2,877 ÷ 7 = 411. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 411 pencils. How many pencils are in 5 boxes?
Answer
5 × 411 = 2,055 pencils. - Tickets cost $411 each. How much do 11 tickets cost?
Answer
11 × $411 = $4,521. - 2,466 chairs are set out in rows of 411. How many rows are there?
Answer
2,466 ÷ 411 = 6 rows. - A plant grows 411 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 10 weeks?
Answer
10 × 411 = 4,110 millimetres.
Questions
What is 411 × 12?
4,932.
What is half of 411 × 8?
411 × 8 = 3,288, and half of that is 1,644, which is 411 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 411 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 411 contain nothing.
What is 411 × 7 and 411 × 8?
411 × 7 = 2,877 and 411 × 8 = 3,288. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 6,165 in the 411 times table?
Yes: 6,165 ÷ 411 = 15 with no remainder. 6,166 is not, because dividing it by 411 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 411 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
