Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 415 × k = 410 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 415 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 415.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 415 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 415 away: 4,150 − 415 = 3,735. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 415: 4,150 + 415 = 4,565. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 415 → 830 → 1,660.
Every multiple of 415 is at least 415, so there are none below 100 and 2 below 1,000. A number is in the 415 times table exactly when it divides by 415 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 415 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 415 × 1 = 415 is odd, 415 × 2 = 830 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 415 × 10 = 4,150, and 415 × 100 = 41,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 4,150 is 2,075.
Using the 415 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 415 × 7 = 2,905, you know 2,905 ÷ 415 = 7 and 2,905 ÷ 7 = 415. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 415 pencils. How many pencils are in 5 boxes?
Answer
5 × 415 = 2,075 pencils. - Tickets cost $415 each. How much do 11 tickets cost?
Answer
11 × $415 = $4,565. - 2,490 chairs are set out in rows of 415. How many rows are there?
Answer
2,490 ÷ 415 = 6 rows. - A plant grows 415 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 12 weeks?
Answer
12 × 415 = 4,980 millimetres.
Questions
What is 415 × 12?
4,980.
What is half of 415 × 8?
415 × 8 = 3,320, and half of that is 1,660, which is 415 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 415 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 415 contain nothing.
What is 415 × 7 and 415 × 8?
415 × 7 = 2,905 and 415 × 8 = 3,320. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 6,225 in the 415 times table?
Yes: 6,225 ÷ 415 = 15 with no remainder. 6,226 is not, because dividing it by 415 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 415 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
