Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 875 × k = 870 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 875 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 875.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 875 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 875 away: 8,750 − 875 = 7,875. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 875: 8,750 + 875 = 9,625. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 875 → 1,750 → 3,500.
Every multiple of 875 is at least 875, so there are none below 100 and 1 below 1,000. A number is in the 875 times table exactly when it divides by 875 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 875 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 875 × 1 = 875 is odd, 875 × 2 = 1,750 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 875 × 10 = 8,750, and 875 × 100 = 87,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 8,750 is 4,375.
Using the 875 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 875 × 7 = 6,125, you know 6,125 ÷ 875 = 7 and 6,125 ÷ 7 = 875. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 875 pencils. How many pencils are in 8 boxes?
Answer
8 × 875 = 7,000 pencils. - Tickets cost $875 each. How much do 12 tickets cost?
Answer
12 × $875 = $10,500. - 6,125 chairs are set out in rows of 875. How many rows are there?
Answer
6,125 ÷ 875 = 7 rows. - A plant grows 875 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 12 weeks?
Answer
12 × 875 = 10,500 millimetres.
Questions
What is 875 × 12?
10,500.
What is half of 875 × 8?
875 × 8 = 7,000, and half of that is 3,500, which is 875 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 875 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 875 contain nothing.
What is 875 × 7 and 875 × 8?
875 × 7 = 6,125 and 875 × 8 = 7,000. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 13,125 in the 875 times table?
Yes: 13,125 ÷ 875 = 15 with no remainder. 13,126 is not, because dividing it by 875 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 875 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
