Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0.
- The digits of every answer add up to a multiple of 9.
- Split it into tens and ones: 1071 × k = 1070 × k + 1 × k.
- Each answer is 1071 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1071.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 1071 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1071 away: 10,710 − 1071 = 9,639. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1071: 10,710 + 1071 = 11,781. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1071 → 2,142 → 4,284.
Every multiple of 1071 is at least 1071, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1071 times table exactly when it divides by 1071 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 1071 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 1071 × 1 = 1071 is odd, 1071 × 2 = 2,142 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1071 × 10 = 10,710, and 1071 × 100 = 107,100. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 10,710 is 5,355.
Using the 1071 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 1071 × 7 = 7,497, you know 7,497 ÷ 1071 = 7 and 7,497 ÷ 7 = 1071. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 1071 pencils. How many pencils are in 8 boxes?
Answer
8 × 1071 = 8,568 pencils. - Tickets cost $1071 each. How much do 4 tickets cost?
Answer
4 × $1071 = $4,284. - 5,355 chairs are set out in rows of 1071. How many rows are there?
Answer
5,355 ÷ 1071 = 5 rows. - A plant grows 1071 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 6 weeks?
Answer
6 × 1071 = 6,426 millimetres.
Questions
What is 1071 × 12?
12,852.
What is half of 1071 × 8?
1071 × 8 = 8,568, and half of that is 4,284, which is 1071 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 1071 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1071 contain nothing.
What is 1071 × 7 and 1071 × 8?
1071 × 7 = 7,497 and 1071 × 8 = 8,568. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 16,065 in the 1071 times table?
Yes: 16,065 ÷ 1071 = 15 with no remainder. 16,066 is not, because dividing it by 1071 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 1071 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
