Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 115 × k = 110 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 115 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 115.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 115 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 115 away: 1,150 − 115 = 1,035. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 115: 1,150 + 115 = 1,265. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 115 → 230 → 460.
Every multiple of 115 is at least 115, so there are none below 100 and 8 below 1,000. A number is in the 115 times table exactly when it divides by 115 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 115 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 115 × 1 = 115 is odd, 115 × 2 = 230 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 115 × 10 = 1,150, and 115 × 100 = 11,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 1,150 is 575.
Using the 115 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 115 × 7 = 805, you know 805 ÷ 115 = 7 and 805 ÷ 7 = 115. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 115 pencils. How many pencils are in 9 boxes?
Answer
9 × 115 = 1,035 pencils. - Tickets cost $115 each. How much do 10 tickets cost?
Answer
10 × $115 = $1,150. - 575 chairs are set out in rows of 115. How many rows are there?
Answer
575 ÷ 115 = 5 rows. - A plant grows 115 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 6 weeks?
Answer
6 × 115 = 690 millimetres.
Questions
What is 115 × 12?
1,380.
What is half of 115 × 8?
115 × 8 = 920, and half of that is 460, which is 115 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 115 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 115 contain nothing.
What is 115 × 7 and 115 × 8?
115 × 7 = 805 and 115 × 8 = 920. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 1,725 in the 115 times table?
Yes: 1,725 ÷ 115 = 15 with no remainder. 1,726 is not, because dividing it by 115 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 115 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
