Patterns that help you remember it

  • The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0.
  • Split it into tens and ones: 1333 × k = 1330 × k + 3 × k.
  • Each answer is 1333 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1333.

Building it from tables you already know

To multiply 1333 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1333 away: 13,330 − 1333 = 11,997. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1333: 13,330 + 1333 = 14,663. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1333 → 2,666 → 5,332.

Every multiple of 1333 is at least 1333, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1333 times table exactly when it divides by 1333 with no remainder.

Odd, even and the last digit

Because 1333 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 1333 × 1 = 1333 is odd, 1333 × 2 = 2,666 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1333 × 10 = 13,330, and 1333 × 100 = 133,300. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 13,330 is 6,665.

Using the 1333 times table to divide

Every fact also works backwards: because 1333 × 7 = 9,331, you know 9,331 ÷ 1333 = 7 and 9,331 ÷ 7 = 1333. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Questions

What is 1333 × 12?

15,996.

What is half of 1333 × 8?

1333 × 8 = 10,664, and half of that is 5,332, which is 1333 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.

What is 1333 times 0?

0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1333 contain nothing.

What is 1333 × 7 and 1333 × 8?

1333 × 7 = 9,331 and 1333 × 8 = 10,664. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.

Is 19,995 in the 1333 times table?

Yes: 19,995 ÷ 1333 = 15 with no remainder. 19,996 is not, because dividing it by 1333 leaves a remainder of 1.

How do I learn the 1333 times table quickly?

Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
