Patterns that help you remember it

  • The last digits repeat in a cycle of 1: 0.
  • Every answer is even, because 1350 is even.
  • The digits of every answer add up to a multiple of 9.
  • Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
  • Split it into tens and ones: 1350 × k = 1350 × k + 0 × k.
  • Each answer is 1350 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1350.

Building it from tables you already know

Every answer in the 1350 times table is double the answer in the 675 times table: 675 × 6 = 4,050, so 1350 × 6 = 8,100. To multiply 1350 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1350 away: 13,500 − 1350 = 12,150. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1350: 13,500 + 1350 = 14,850. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1350 → 2,700 → 5,400.

Every multiple of 1350 is at least 1350, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1350 times table exactly when it divides by 1350 with no remainder.

Odd, even and the last digit

Because 1350 is even, every answer in its table is even, which is a quick way to catch a wrong answer. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1350 × 10 = 13,500, and 1350 × 100 = 135,000. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 13,500 is 6,750.

Using the 1350 times table to divide

Every fact also works backwards: because 1350 × 7 = 9,450, you know 9,450 ÷ 1350 = 7 and 9,450 ÷ 7 = 1350. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems

Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:

  1. A box holds 1350 pencils. How many pencils are in 7 boxes?
    Answer7 × 1350 = 9,450 pencils.
  2. Tickets cost $1350 each. How much do 11 tickets cost?
    Answer11 × $1350 = $14,850.
  3. 2,700 chairs are set out in rows of 1350. How many rows are there?
    Answer2,700 ÷ 1350 = 2 rows.
  4. A plant grows 1350 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 6 weeks?
    Answer6 × 1350 = 8,100 millimetres.

Questions

What is 1350 × 12?

16,200.

What is half of 1350 × 8?

1350 × 8 = 10,800, and half of that is 5,400, which is 1350 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.

What is 1350 times 0?

0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1350 contain nothing.

What is 1350 × 7 and 1350 × 8?

1350 × 7 = 9,450 and 1350 × 8 = 10,800. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.

Is 20,250 in the 1350 times table?

Yes: 20,250 ÷ 1350 = 15 with no remainder. 20,251 is not, because dividing it by 1350 leaves a remainder of 1.

How do I learn the 1350 times table quickly?

Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
