Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 1: 0.
- Every answer is even, because 1800 is even.
- The digits of every answer add up to a multiple of 9.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 1800 × k = 1800 × k + 0 × k.
- Each answer is 1800 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1800.
Building it from tables you already know
Every answer in the 1800 times table is double the answer in the 900 times table: 900 × 6 = 5,400, so 1800 × 6 = 10,800. To multiply 1800 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1800 away: 18,000 − 1800 = 16,200. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1800: 18,000 + 1800 = 19,800. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1800 → 3,600 → 7,200.
Every multiple of 1800 is at least 1800, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1800 times table exactly when it divides by 1800 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 1800 is even, every answer in its table is even, which is a quick way to catch a wrong answer. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1800 × 10 = 18,000, and 1800 × 100 = 180,000. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 18,000 is 9,000.
Using the 1800 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 1800 × 7 = 12,600, you know 12,600 ÷ 1800 = 7 and 12,600 ÷ 7 = 1800. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 1800 pencils. How many pencils are in 3 boxes?
Answer
3 × 1800 = 5,400 pencils. - Tickets cost $1800 each. How much do 9 tickets cost?
Answer
9 × $1800 = $16,200. - 12,600 chairs are set out in rows of 1800. How many rows are there?
Answer
12,600 ÷ 1800 = 7 rows. - A plant grows 1800 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 9 weeks?
Answer
9 × 1800 = 16,200 millimetres.
Questions
What is 1800 × 12?
21,600.
What is half of 1800 × 8?
1800 × 8 = 14,400, and half of that is 7,200, which is 1800 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 1800 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1800 contain nothing.
What is 1800 × 7 and 1800 × 8?
1800 × 7 = 12,600 and 1800 × 8 = 14,400. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 27,000 in the 1800 times table?
Yes: 27,000 ÷ 1800 = 15 with no remainder. 27,001 is not, because dividing it by 1800 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 1800 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
