Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 305 × k = 300 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 305 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 305.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 305 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 305 away: 3,050 − 305 = 2,745. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 305: 3,050 + 305 = 3,355. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 305 → 610 → 1,220.
Every multiple of 305 is at least 305, so there are none below 100 and 3 below 1,000. A number is in the 305 times table exactly when it divides by 305 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 305 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 305 × 1 = 305 is odd, 305 × 2 = 610 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 305 × 10 = 3,050, and 305 × 100 = 30,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 3,050 is 1,525.
Using the 305 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 305 × 7 = 2,135, you know 2,135 ÷ 305 = 7 and 2,135 ÷ 7 = 305. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 305 pencils. How many pencils are in 5 boxes?
Answer
5 × 305 = 1,525 pencils. - Tickets cost $305 each. How much do 10 tickets cost?
Answer
10 × $305 = $3,050. - 2,440 chairs are set out in rows of 305. How many rows are there?
Answer
2,440 ÷ 305 = 8 rows. - A plant grows 305 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 6 weeks?
Answer
6 × 305 = 1,830 millimetres.
Questions
What is 305 × 12?
3,660.
What is half of 305 × 8?
305 × 8 = 2,440, and half of that is 1,220, which is 305 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 305 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 305 contain nothing.
What is 305 × 7 and 305 × 8?
305 × 7 = 2,135 and 305 × 8 = 2,440. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 4,575 in the 305 times table?
Yes: 4,575 ÷ 305 = 15 with no remainder. 4,576 is not, because dividing it by 305 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 305 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
