Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 435 × k = 430 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 435 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 435.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 435 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 435 away: 4,350 − 435 = 3,915. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 435: 4,350 + 435 = 4,785. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 435 → 870 → 1,740.
Every multiple of 435 is at least 435, so there are none below 100 and 2 below 1,000. A number is in the 435 times table exactly when it divides by 435 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 435 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 435 × 1 = 435 is odd, 435 × 2 = 870 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 435 × 10 = 4,350, and 435 × 100 = 43,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 4,350 is 2,175.
Using the 435 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 435 × 7 = 3,045, you know 3,045 ÷ 435 = 7 and 3,045 ÷ 7 = 435. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 435 pencils. How many pencils are in 5 boxes?
Answer
5 × 435 = 2,175 pencils. - Tickets cost $435 each. How much do 9 tickets cost?
Answer
9 × $435 = $3,915. - 2,610 chairs are set out in rows of 435. How many rows are there?
Answer
2,610 ÷ 435 = 6 rows. - A plant grows 435 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 9 weeks?
Answer
9 × 435 = 3,915 millimetres.
Questions
What is 435 × 12?
5,220.
What is half of 435 × 8?
435 × 8 = 3,480, and half of that is 1,740, which is 435 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 435 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 435 contain nothing.
What is 435 × 7 and 435 × 8?
435 × 7 = 3,045 and 435 × 8 = 3,480. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 6,525 in the 435 times table?
Yes: 6,525 ÷ 435 = 15 with no remainder. 6,526 is not, because dividing it by 435 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 435 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
