Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 75 × k = 70 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 75 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 75.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 75 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 75 away: 750 − 75 = 675. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 75: 750 + 75 = 825. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 75 → 150 → 300.
There are 1 multiples of 75 below 100, and 13 below 1,000. A number is in the 75 times table exactly when it divides by 75 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 75 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 75 × 1 = 75 is odd, 75 × 2 = 150 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 75 × 10 = 750, and 75 × 100 = 7,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 750 is 375.
Using the 75 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 75 × 7 = 525, you know 525 ÷ 75 = 7 and 525 ÷ 7 = 75. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 75 pencils. How many pencils are in 7 boxes?
Answer
7 × 75 = 525 pencils. - Tickets cost $75 each. How much do 10 tickets cost?
Answer
10 × $75 = $750. - 300 chairs are set out in rows of 75. How many rows are there?
Answer
300 ÷ 75 = 4 rows. - A plant grows 75 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 9 weeks?
Answer
9 × 75 = 675 millimetres.
Questions
What is 75 × 12?
900.
What is half of 75 × 8?
75 × 8 = 600, and half of that is 300, which is 75 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 75 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 75 contain nothing.
What is 75 × 7 and 75 × 8?
75 × 7 = 525 and 75 × 8 = 600. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 1,125 in the 75 times table?
Yes: 1,125 ÷ 75 = 15 with no remainder. 1,126 is not, because dividing it by 75 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 75 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
