Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0.
- Split it into tens and ones: 1061 × k = 1060 × k + 1 × k.
- Each answer is 1061 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1061.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 1061 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1061 away: 10,610 − 1061 = 9,549. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1061: 10,610 + 1061 = 11,671. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1061 → 2,122 → 4,244.
Every multiple of 1061 is at least 1061, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1061 times table exactly when it divides by 1061 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 1061 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 1061 × 1 = 1061 is odd, 1061 × 2 = 2,122 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1061 × 10 = 10,610, and 1061 × 100 = 106,100. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 10,610 is 5,305.
Using the 1061 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 1061 × 7 = 7,427, you know 7,427 ÷ 1061 = 7 and 7,427 ÷ 7 = 1061. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 1061 pencils. How many pencils are in 4 boxes?
Answer
4 × 1061 = 4,244 pencils. - Tickets cost $1061 each. How much do 6 tickets cost?
Answer
6 × $1061 = $6,366. - 4,244 chairs are set out in rows of 1061. How many rows are there?
Answer
4,244 ÷ 1061 = 4 rows. - A plant grows 1061 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 12 weeks?
Answer
12 × 1061 = 12,732 millimetres.
Questions
What is 1061 × 12?
12,732.
What is half of 1061 × 8?
1061 × 8 = 8,488, and half of that is 4,244, which is 1061 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 1061 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1061 contain nothing.
What is 1061 × 7 and 1061 × 8?
1061 × 7 = 7,427 and 1061 × 8 = 8,488. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 15,915 in the 1061 times table?
Yes: 15,915 ÷ 1061 = 15 with no remainder. 15,916 is not, because dividing it by 1061 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 1061 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
