Patterns that help you remember it

  • The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 3, 6, 9, 2, 5, 8, 1, 4, 7, 0.
  • Split it into tens and ones: 1063 × k = 1060 × k + 3 × k.
  • Each answer is 1063 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1063.

Building it from tables you already know

To multiply 1063 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1063 away: 10,630 − 1063 = 9,567. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1063: 10,630 + 1063 = 11,693. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1063 → 2,126 → 4,252.

Every multiple of 1063 is at least 1063, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1063 times table exactly when it divides by 1063 with no remainder.

Odd, even and the last digit

Because 1063 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 1063 × 1 = 1063 is odd, 1063 × 2 = 2,126 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1063 × 10 = 10,630, and 1063 × 100 = 106,300. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 10,630 is 5,315.

Using the 1063 times table to divide

Every fact also works backwards: because 1063 × 7 = 7,441, you know 7,441 ÷ 1063 = 7 and 7,441 ÷ 7 = 1063. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Questions

What is 1063 × 12?

12,756.

What is half of 1063 × 8?

1063 × 8 = 8,504, and half of that is 4,252, which is 1063 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.

What is 1063 times 0?

0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1063 contain nothing.

What is 1063 × 7 and 1063 × 8?

1063 × 7 = 7,441 and 1063 × 8 = 8,504. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.

Is 15,945 in the 1063 times table?

Yes: 15,945 ÷ 1063 = 15 with no remainder. 15,946 is not, because dividing it by 1063 leaves a remainder of 1.

How do I learn the 1063 times table quickly?

Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
