Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 2: 5, 0.
- Every answer ends in 0 or 5.
- Split it into tens and ones: 1015 × k = 1010 × k + 5 × k.
- Each answer is 1015 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 1015.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 1015 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 1015 away: 10,150 − 1015 = 9,135. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 1015: 10,150 + 1015 = 11,165. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 1015 → 2,030 → 4,060.
Every multiple of 1015 is at least 1015, so there are none below 100 and 0 below 1,000. A number is in the 1015 times table exactly when it divides by 1015 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 1015 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 1015 × 1 = 1015 is odd, 1015 × 2 = 2,030 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 1015 × 10 = 10,150, and 1015 × 100 = 101,500. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 10,150 is 5,075.
Using the 1015 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 1015 × 7 = 7,105, you know 7,105 ÷ 1015 = 7 and 7,105 ÷ 7 = 1015. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 1015 pencils. How many pencils are in 5 boxes?
Answer
5 × 1015 = 5,075 pencils. - Tickets cost $1015 each. How much do 9 tickets cost?
Answer
9 × $1015 = $9,135. - 6,090 chairs are set out in rows of 1015. How many rows are there?
Answer
6,090 ÷ 1015 = 6 rows. - A plant grows 1015 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 10 weeks?
Answer
10 × 1015 = 10,150 millimetres.
Questions
What is 1015 × 12?
12,180.
What is half of 1015 × 8?
1015 × 8 = 8,120, and half of that is 4,060, which is 1015 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 1015 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 1015 contain nothing.
What is 1015 × 7 and 1015 × 8?
1015 × 7 = 7,105 and 1015 × 8 = 8,120. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 15,225 in the 1015 times table?
Yes: 15,225 ÷ 1015 = 15 with no remainder. 15,226 is not, because dividing it by 1015 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 1015 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
