Patterns that help you remember it
- The last digits repeat in a cycle of 10: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0.
- Split it into tens and ones: 41 × k = 40 × k + 1 × k.
- Each answer is 41 more than the one before, so you can count on in steps of 41.
Building it from tables you already know
To multiply 41 by 9, multiply by 10 and take one 41 away: 410 − 41 = 369. To multiply by 11, multiply by 10 and add one more 41: 410 + 41 = 451. Multiplying by 4 is doubling twice: 41 → 82 → 164.
There are 2 multiples of 41 below 100, and 24 below 1,000. A number is in the 41 times table exactly when it divides by 41 with no remainder.
Odd, even and the last digit
Because 41 is odd, the answers alternate between odd and even: 41 × 1 = 41 is odd, 41 × 2 = 82 is even, and so on. Multiplying by 10 always puts a zero on the end: 41 × 10 = 410, and 41 × 100 = 4,100. Multiplying by 5 is half of multiplying by 10: half of 410 is 205.
Using the 41 times table to divide
Every fact also works backwards: because 41 × 7 = 287, you know 287 ÷ 41 = 7 and 287 ÷ 7 = 41. Practising the table and its division facts together halves the work.

Word problems
Times tables are most useful when you can spot them in a question. Try these, then open each one to check:
- A box holds 41 pencils. How many pencils are in 5 boxes?
Answer
5 × 41 = 205 pencils. - Tickets cost $41 each. How much do 6 tickets cost?
Answer
6 × $41 = $246. - 82 chairs are set out in rows of 41. How many rows are there?
Answer
82 ÷ 41 = 2 rows. - A plant grows 41 millimetres a week. How much does it grow in 7 weeks?
Answer
7 × 41 = 287 millimetres.
Questions
What is 41 × 12?
492.
What is half of 41 × 8?
41 × 8 = 328, and half of that is 164, which is 41 × 4. Halving one factor halves the answer.
What is 41 times 0?
0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero, because zero groups of 41 contain nothing.
What is 41 × 7 and 41 × 8?
41 × 7 = 287 and 41 × 8 = 328. These two are the facts most people find hardest, so they are worth practising on their own.
Is 615 in the 41 times table?
Yes: 615 ÷ 41 = 15 with no remainder. 616 is not, because dividing it by 41 leaves a remainder of 1.
How do I learn the 41 times table quickly?
Learn it in order first, then use the patterns above and practise mixed questions; a few minutes a day works better than one long session.
